Gunman on the run after Melbourne man shot in the head

A gunman is on the run after a 53-year-old man was shot in the head in Melbourne’s southwest last night.

The shooting happened at a home on Spraypoint Drive in Point Cook just before 11pm, Victoria Police said.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Officers were told the unknown attacker fled before they arrived.

Acting Inspector Trish Duke said police are investigating.

“Police at the present time are containing a crime scene but also we are looking for witnesses in the area," she told 9News last night.
