Delays expected at Melbourne Airport after evacuation

Melbourne Airport has been hit with chaos for the second day in a row after hundreds of travellers were evacuated from the Qantas terminal.

Qantas has confirmed the evacuation followed a smoke alarm being set off by a business in the food court.

Passengers should expect delays, with long queues of domestic travellers at the check-in area.

It comes the day after a software outage forced the closure of the automated SmartGate kiosk system, causing massive delays at for international travellers.

The terminal has now resumed normal operation.
