Melbourne man 'bloody enjoyed' murdering lover, Victorian court told

A Melbourne man has said he "bloody enjoyed" murdering a shop owner he met on an online dating site, the Victorian Supreme Court has been told.
Simon Kepenci, 39, told the Victorian Supreme Court today he “just had to” kill Fitzroy shop owner Gordon Harvey, 62.
Kepenci admitted to murdering Mr Harvey at his north-Melbourne store, "Fetish", on January 17 this year.
Homicide squad detective Senior Constable Kane Taylor told the hearing earlier this year the pair had used ice before Kepenci bludgeoned his victim to death with a hammer and lit the store on fire.
Kepenci and Mr Harvey met on an online dating website in 2015 and had been involved in a sexual relationship.
Prosecutors said Kepenci told police he didn't regret the attack and would re-offend if he "feels like it again”.
The court was told Kepenci said to police "I bloody enjoyed it” in reference to the murder.
The 39-year-old said it "came out of the blue" and he "just had to do it".
After his arrest, Kepenci claimed Mr Harvey gave him HIV.
Crown prosecutors told the Victorian Supreme Court the suggestion could not be true, because Kepenci was confirmed HIV-positive before he met Mr Harvey.
The pre-sentence hearing continues.
