Melbourne man allegedly assaults police officer twice at protest
A police officer was allegedly assaulted while trying to intervene in an altercation between a motorist and a protester in Melbourne's CBD.
Police are searching for a man they allege assaulted an officer twice during a 'freedom rally', which appeared to be protesting against COVID-19 vaccine passports, on King Street in Melbourne on Saturday.
The first alleged assault occurred when officers were breaking up a dispute between a motorist and a protester about 1.30pm.

The protester allegedly struck out at police and assaulted an officer.
Pepper spray was used on the man and he went back into the crowd before returning to assault the same officer, police said.
The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Images of a man police want to speak to have been released.
He is described as medium build with short dark balding hair.
