Eight people escape massive fire at Melbourne home

Eight people, including five children, have escaped a massive fire that caused serious damage to a Melbourne home. 

Authorities were called just after 7am today when the Forest Hill home became fully involved.

Authorities said the eight occupants of the home self-evacuated and are were assessed by paramedics. 

Fire crews used breathing apparatus and aggressively attacked the fire. 

Authorities said the fire was brought under control in 20 minutes. It's not clear what started the blaze. 

At least 28 firefighters were called to the home.
