Melbourne hoon lashes out after pleading guilty to reckless driving

A Melbourne man hurled expletives at reporters outside court today after pleading guilty to reckless conduct at an illegal drag race meet.

Dayal Tate was at a meet-up for Facebook group Northern Skids in Campbellfield in 2014 when a spectator was struck by a vehicle.

CCTV footage captured the moment the 19-year-old from Werribee was left bloodied and with a fractured skull on the ground at the May 13 event.

Previous charges against Mr Tate in relation to the hit-run of the pedestrian were dropped.

He told reporters outside the County Court of Victoria today he “never hit no one” and swore as he lashed out at cameras.

“What the f-- did you just do? You shoved me,” Mr Tate’s father said to one journalist.

The 22-year-old Craigieburn man pleaded guilty to reckless conduct endangering serious injury and driving an unroadworthy vehicle with unregistered plates.

Judge Wendy Wilmoth said Mr Tate has “good prospects” of rehabilitation, but needed more support.

The 22-year-old received 60 hours of community service, a six month license suspension and a $1500 fine.

He also ordered to complete a three year community corrections order.
