Melbourne homicide victim identified

A woman found dead on a street in a Melbourne industrial estate has been identified.

The 34-year-old Doveton woman's body was found on Wednesday morning on the nature strip by workers arriving to start their day at neighbouring Eumemmerring.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the victim's name would not be released until all relatives were notified.

A post-mortem has been conducted but the cause of death has not been released.

Police say it appeared there was a struggle at the scene and that the woman was assaulted, with significant upper-body injuries and cuts thought to be from a blade.

A large amount of blood was on the road and footpath near the woman.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and have recorded movements in the street in the 10 hours before the body was found at about 7am (AEDT).
