Melbourne Cup winning trainer Darren Weir will stand trial over charges of animal abuse and conspiracy.
Weir pleaded not guilty to four offences relating to the alleged use of electric jiggers on horses during the 2018 Spring Racing Carnival.

His former stable workers Jarrod McLean and Tyson Kermond today also pleaded not guilty to the indictable charges, which include conspiracy, firearm possession and betting offences.
The trio allegedly stuck three racehorses with electric jiggers while they galloped on a treadmill in training ahead of the spring carnival.
They will all face court again next month.
