Melbourne Cup cop pusher apologises and says she made 'massive error in judgement'

The Melbourne Cup racegoer who was arrested after pushing a senior police officer into bushes has apologised, saying "my level of intoxication is no excuse".

Video of the push surfaced on Tuesday evening, showing 25-year-old Sarah Finn in a distinctive blue dress inexplicably shoving Acting Superintendent Stephen Cooper over after the race.

Yesterday she drew more ire on social media when she posted an image of herself laughing and sitting on a marked police bike at the races.

But she also told Seven News: "I deeply apologise for my actions. I acknowledge a massive error in judgement on my behalf".

Supt Cooper said the push didn't hurt him - apart from his pride.

"I'm certainly copping it from mates all over the world," Mr Cooper told 3AW Radio yesterday.

Ironically, he had been preparing to brief the media about punters’ behaviour at the Cup when he was pushed.

Police have confirmed she will be charged with assaulting police.
