Man charged over St Kilda cafe stabbing in front of horrified diners
A man is due to face court today over a stabbing at a café in Melbourne yesterday morning.
Diners eating brunch watched on in horror as a 48-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at the Staple Providore & Café in St Kilda.
Witnesses told 9News the victim let out a deafening scream as onlookers pinned the alleged attacker to the ground.
A 42-year-old St Kilda man, who was arrested at the scene, has now been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, intentionally causing injury and assault with a weapon.

Police say the victim received multiple stab wounds to the upper body and was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Nearby cafe owner Ashok Bisht told 9News said the alleged attack appeared to happen out of nowhere.
"Everyone was chilling out … having coffee then suddenly this happens. It was horrifying," he said.
"There was blood everywhere.
"It looked like he had been stabbed in the neck.
"He was still breathing but he was in a bad condition."
