A crash that left two women dead in northern Tasmania may have been caused by a medical condition.

Police say early investigations indicate the 65-year-old driver, who died in the accident, may have experienced a medical issue.

An 81-year-old passenger was also killed when the car in which they were travelling lost control on a bend in Ulverstone on Sunday afternoon.
