Woman 'taking photos' makes grisly discovery near Melbourne beach

A woman has found a man’s dead body near a beach in Melbourne’s south-east this afternoon.

Police told 9News the woman was taking photos on Chelsea Beach when she noticed the body at the end of the boardwalk about midday.

She dialled Triple-Zero, with members of the Homicide Squad establishing a crime scene soon after.

Local tradie Paul Minehan said officers had described the situation as “a police incident”.

“It’s tragic, obviously… without knowing the causes, either way it’s a sad thing” Mr Minehan said.

Police have since confirmed the death of the man, aged om his 80s, is not being treated as suspicious. A reported will be prepared for the Coroner.
