Mother's warning as child bitten by snake at school

A Perth mother is warning others about knowing how to treat a snake bite after her daughter was bitten at school.

Karla Burbidge is shocked her 12-year-old had to walk to the school's office, before being rushed to hospital.

Zoe Da Silva was sitting outside her music class at Meadow Springs Primary School yesterday when she said she felt a tingling sensation on her leg.

The year six student had no idea she had been bitten by a snake.

She told a teacher who took her to the administration office.

Her leg was compressed and she was rushed to Peel Health Campus.

The bite didn't contain venom but she was kept in hospital overnight as a precaution.

The Mandurah school is surrounded by bushland.

It is understood this isn't the first snake bite to happen on the school's grounds.
