Adelaide man with disability stabbed in house party gone wrong

A man with a disability has been stabbed in the chest during a house party gone wrong in the Adelaide suburb of Croydon Park.

Witnesses have told 9News that the attacker, armed with a knife and a bat, suddenly lost control, threatening several guests in an incident on Hudson Avenue just before 2am.

Victim Tony Fricker, who lives with a disability, says he was lucky to make it home.

"I just felt something just hit me there and I said 'you're okay' and he just stabbed into me," the 54-year-old said.

Witnesses said the altercation escalated rapidly, with the alleged assailant threatening several guests. 

"He just got out of control and he had a go at a girl that was here," Fricker said.

Another witness said they "heard a fight".

"I thought it was a little punch up… I didn't know it was a knife up," neighbour Kumar Singh said.

Fricker was taken to hospital for treatment. While there were fears he had suffered a punctured lung, he ended up only requiring a few stitches.

Despite living just metres away from his suspected attacker, he says he's not scared or even angry at his neighbour for what unfolded last night, and just hopes something similar doesn't happen again.

A 53-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault over the incident. He is scheduled to appear in court in December.
