Shirtless man who allegedly fired arrows at construction workers facing multiple charges

A man has been charged after allegedly firing a high-powered hunting bow at construction workers in the beachside Sydney suburb of Coogee.

Police were called to Carrington Road just after 12pm yesterday amid reports a shirtless man was wandering around with a compound bow in one hand and a beer in the other.

Video obtained by 9NEWS shows a man emerging from his home carrying the bow.

“You’re s------- yourself hey. You f------ ----. You’re ---- s---- yourself,” he yells.

Workers across the road can be heard laughing in astonishment.

When they ignore him, the man fits an arrow to the bow, stalking towards the building site.

One worker can be heard yelling, “Oi, don’t shoot it bro”.

“He shot the sign, and the fence,”

“At the beginning he was really, really angry and then afterwards he was just like, being a hero – like it was just ego," witness Lyall Maloney told 9NEWS.

No one was hurt in the incident.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested by police and taken to Maroubra police station for questioning.

Police executed a search warrant at the man's home, where they allegedly found more arrows and arrow heads.

Authorities claim they also found hydroponics equipment, and an amount of steroids, cannabis and cannabis resin.

The man has since been charged with using an offensive weapon with intent and possession of a prohibited drug.

He also faces charges of possession of a prescribed restricted substance and allowing the use of a premises as a drug premises.

The man has been refused bail and is expected to front Waverley Local Court today.
