Man who attacked wife and her partner with tyre lever jailed

A man who attacked his wife and her partner with a metal tyre lever in a Parramatta carpark has been jailed for at least six months.

Robert Andrew Mann, 30, flew into a rage with the weapon when he ambushed Jaimi-Lee Atkinson and Jeremy Sampson in the driveway of the Meriton Apartment complex on June 21.

Married for 13 years, Mann became aware of his wife's relationship with Mr Sampson and used the Find My iPhone app to track her movements, following the pair from Tamworth to Sydney.

Using his four-wheel-drive to box-in the pair in a carpark, Mann used a tyre lever to shatter the passenger window and gain access to the couple's vehicle where he repeatedly punched Mr Sampson in the face and body, dealing between 20 and 30 heavy blows.

Mobile phone vision obtained by 9NEWS shows Ms Atkinson screaming for help, appealing for bystanders to call police.

When officers arrived they were forced to use a taser in Mann's arrest.

He was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of intentionally destroying/damaging property and driving on a suspended licence.

Appearing at Parramatta Local Court, Mann appeared to have reconciled with his wife, who supported him during his sentencing.

After pleading guilty to four charges, Magistrate Jenny Giles sentenced Mann to 12 months' jail, with a non-parole period of six months. 

He was also disqualified from driving for two years and fined $300.

Lodging an immediate appeal to the sentence, Mann was able to walk free from custody until he faces court again next month.
