Man under guard after Doonside death

Police are waiting to speak to a man who is in a serious condition in hospital, after a woman's body was found in a home in Sydney's west.

Police were called to home in Doonside just after 6pm on Monday where they found the body of a 42-year-old woman.

Police say the death is considered suspicious.

An injured 38-year-old man was also found inside the home and taken to Westmead Hospital where he is under guard.

The man reportedly overdosed on prescription drugs, according to Macquarie Radio.

Police remain at the Doonside home, continuing their investigation.

Police wouldn't provide details of the pair's relationship.
