Man charged after allegedly strangling ibis to death in Brisbane's CBD

A man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly strangling an ibis to death in Brisbane’s CBD last week.
Police allege 31-year-old Murarrie Man captured an ibis around 5.30am on Saturday on George street and strangled it to death.
Mr Man then allegedly approached people on the street and made threats with the dead bird.
Senior Sergeant Neville Mills, District Duty Officer, said police took animal cruelty cases very seriously.
“Attacks of this nature will not be tolerated and those responsible will be dealt with to the full extent of the law,” Sgt Mills said.
The 31-year-old has been charged with one count each of animal cruelty and public nuisance.
He is due to front Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 10.
