A Loganlea woman has been remanded in custody, charged with murdering her partner.

Police were called to a home on Melnik Drive at 9.20pm where they found the body of 54-year-old Paul Stephen Bakes. He had suffered a serious stab wound and couldn't be revived.

A two-year-old toddler was inside the home during the alleged attack.

Vanessa Lee Jenkins, 41, spent the night being questioned by police and was charged with murder this morning.

She was not brought up from the cells when her matter was briefly mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.

She will reappear in court on January 25.

Neighbours have told 9NEWS they heard an argument overnight while others say they're shocked at what's unfolded on their usually quiet street.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
