Police allege he attacked a 29-year-old man at Joanne St in Woonona last Wednesday.

The victim managed to call emergency services and drive his car to nearby Mountain Avenue.

He was then airlifted to St George Hospital in Sydney where he was treated for facial injuries, and has since been released.

The alleged offender has been refused bail and is expected to appear in Wollongong Local Court later today.

Further arrests are expected, NSW Police said in a statement.
