Man shot in suburban Melbourne

A man has been shot at a suburban Melbourne property.

The man, in his mid-20s, was shot in the lower body at Bentleigh East on Thursday morning.

Another man, in his late 20s to early 30s, was arrested at the property and he is assisting police.

"It is believed both men are known to each other," a police spokesperson said.

The wounded man has been taken to The Alfred hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
