Father and son mowed down by unconscious driver
A father and his young son are recovering in hospital after the pair was run down by a driver suffering a medical episode in Perth.
The driver, a man aged 55, became unconscious behind the wheel while driving home from the gym at around 6pm yesterday.
He slammed through bollards and a goal post before hitting the 53-year-old Cameron North, and his eight-year-old son at Melville Reserve.

The pair's partner and mum, who is pregnant and had her young daughter with her, watched the chaos unfold.

Members of a nearby cricket club tried to render assistance, grabbing a defibrillator to assist the driver.
He now remains critical in hospital.

"The fact that the cars were there probably stopped the man from being killed because he would have just continued on at that speed," witness Myra Lydon said.
"It was something you only see in movies, kind of looked like you didn't want to believe what you were seeing," Mark Goodin, President of the Hilton Bicton Cricket Club said.
Police said the out of control Porsche travelled nearly 400-metres at speed.
They have labelled the incident a "freak accident".
Witnesses say the reserve had been busy that evening and it's lucky no more injuries occurred.
Mr North has had surgery on his leg while his son is being treated for a broken arm and leg.
They are both stable and recovering in hospital.
