Man pulled to safety after falling six metres down hole at Brisbane worksite

A man has been pulled to safety by emergency service workers after falling down a hole at a worksite in Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Deshon Street and Railway Street in Woolloongabba around 9.20am following reports a man had fallen six metres down a pit.

Paramedics climbed down into the hole and loaded the man on to a stretcher before firefighters used a winch to pull him to safety.

"We worked with the fire service for approximately 30 to 40 minutes," Queensland Ambulance Service Operations Supervisor Adrian Tong said.

"He was able to be extracted, treated of his injuries and loaded into the ambulance."

The man suffered back pain, rib pain and pelvis pain in the fall but was conscious and alert throughout the rescue.

He has been taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
