Man 'punched through window' in McDonald's carpark fight

A wild fight that started near a McDonald's restaurant in Sydney overnight has left two men recovering in hospital.

The altercation began about 2am today near the Bonnyrigg McDonald's carpark, in the city's south-west. 

Two men, aged 20 and 53 – who previously didn't know each other – began to fight, before others were also drawn into the melee.

According to police, the 20-year-old man was accompanied by another man, while the 53-year-old was with another man and woman.

"The 20-year-old punch[ed] and smash[ed] the window of a vehicle, causing a serious laceration to his forearm," police said in a statement.

The brawl then spilled from the carpark to nearby Smithfield Road, before police and paramedics arrived.

Both the 20-year-old and 53-year-old were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment for arm and facial injuries respectively. 

Their injuries are not considered life-threatening. 

Police have gathered evidence in the carpark and in nearby areas, including a public park across the road. 

They also took statements from a number of people, but no one has yet been arrested.

Vehicles believed to be connected to the incident were towed away for forensic analysis.

Police are continuing their investigations, with a view to laying charges later.
