Man pleads guilty to drink driving petrol-powered Esky

The man arrested over an Australian Day joyride on a petrol-powered Esky has pleaded guilty to drink driving, but his lawyer said he will fight the two other charges.

James Wallace, 21, was charged after he allegedly drove his friend’s powered Esky up and down Argyle Street in Sydney while drunk on Australia Day.

The Camden man, who did not appear in court, pleaded guilty to drink-diving today, but his lawyer said he will fight the charges of using an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle.

Mr Wallace blew 0.162, almost three times the legal limit, when he was stopped by police.

Video of the 21-year-old's joyride was posted online by staff at the Camden Hotel and has amassed almost 50,000 views.

The matter is due back in court in April.
