Man out on bail over alleged sex attack

A man accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a Sydney train station toilet block has been released on bail after police presented a magistrate with fresh evidence.

The 34-year-old was arrested and charged with sexual assault after the alleged attack at Strathfield station last Wednesday.

He appeared at Burwood Local Court on Thursday and was refused bail.

Police said on Monday that following further investigations detectives had applied to have fresh evidence heard in court.

That evidence was put before a magistrate in the Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday resulting in the man being released on bail.

Police say investigations into the incident are continuing.
