Man taken into custody after holding police at bay in Sydney’s west

A man has handed himself in to police after holding them at bay on top of a building in Sydney's west.

Police were called to Amy Street, Regents Park, about 4pm after report a man had been stabbed. They found a man with cuts to his face, while another man had climbed up onto the roof of a nearby shop.

Officers blocked off the street and began speaking with the man in an effort to coax him down.

About 5.30pm the man climbed down and was taken into custody.
