Woman bailed after man 'left for dead' in Central Coast hit-and-run

A woman who handed herself in after an alleged hit-and-run that killed a Central Coast father-of-three has been bailed. 

Adam Beattie's wife found his body in bushland just off Scenic Drive at San Remo about 2.30pm on Sunday after he'd been left for dead in an alleged hit-and-run.

A 43-year-old woman was released last night after being charged with dangerous driving occasioning death. 

She handed herself into Wyong Police Station after Mr Beattie's wife made the horrific discovery.

Witness Julie Dyer has told 9NEWS she was there when his partner made the horrific discovery.

Witness Julie Dyer told 9NEWS the distraught woman "screaming, collapsing, vomiting and screaming 'He's dead! He's dead!'".

Mr Beattie was flung over a roadside barrier on the dark and narrow Scenic Drive at San Remo on the Central Coast between 11 and 11.30pm, but his body wasn't found until 15 hours later.

Yesterday, Zoe Breakwell paid tribute to the slain 41-year-old.

"Broken is not even cutting how we all feel," she said.

"Adam Beattie has grown his wings and flown to heaven."
