A stock agent has been identified as the man fatally trampled by a cow on a farm near Albury-Wodonga, on the Victorian border, this morning.

WorkSafe said the man, aged in his late 50s, was drafting cattle in stockyards on the Georges Creek Road property when he was struck and killed by the cow about 9am.

A report will now be prepared for the Coroner and WorkSafe has been notified, police said.

Today’s fatality is the second death of a stock agent in less than a month.

On December 15, another agent was crushed by a bull at Dunkeld, located in the state’s west.

"It is a stark warning to everyone in the farming community that safety must be a critical part of everything they do,” WorkSafe's Acting Head of Operations and Emergency Management, Trevor Butler, said in a statement.
