Homicide detectives investigate man's street death in Melbourne's west

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man in Melbourne's west after his body was discovered laying in the middle of a road.

Police were called to Boundary Road in Derrimut after reports of an injured man about 6am today.

Paramedics attempted to help the man but were unable to save him and he died at the scene.

Earlier, police received a call just after 11.15pm last night about a man seen laying in the middle of East Derrimut Crescent but when officers arrived he was not there.

They instead found a number of personal items on the road. Blood was also found in a number of locations during a search of the surrounding streets.

"While the exact circumstances are yet to be determined, at this time it is believed that the two incidents are likely to be linked," Victoria Police said in a statement.

Two crime scenes have now been set up at both locations.

Investigators are now appealing to the public who may have seen anything in the vicinity of East Derrimut Crescent, West Court or Derrimut Drive or who may have been in the area with a dash cam.
