Man enjoying night out fatally stabbed at private party

A Macedonian man has been stabbed to death after enjoying a night of music and dancing at a private function in Melbourne.

Deni Dimovski was stabbed multiple times in the middle of the Korzo Grill House in Caroline Springs, after being confronted by unwelcome guests overnight.

Paramedics tried to revive Mr Dimovski, but he died at the scene in front of shocked onlookers.

The private party was attended by about 30 people, police said.

Mr Dimovski, who was aged in his 30s, was from Macedonia and had recently moved to Melbourne.

Police haven't released a description of his attacker, but are reviewing CCTV of the unwelcome group.

Homicide detectives say the knife used in the stabbing was from the restaurant.

Forensic investigators later found it abandoned at the scene.
