A NSW man will face court next month after allegedly using his mobile phone to watch two 10-year-old girls shower at a local swimming pool.

The two victims were using an adjacent shower cubicle at the Gosford pool at 6.30pm (AEDT) yesterday when they spotted a mobile phone lodged in a gap between the wall and roof.

One of the girls alerted their auntie, who contacted pool staff.

They detained a 24-year-old man until police arrived.

An examination of the his phone did not uncover any recordings of the incident, according to a NSW Police spokesman.

The man was charged with attempting to commit an offence, installing a device to "peep and pry".

He was granted conditional bail and will appear before Gosford Local Court on November 11.
