Man escapes hotel quarantine in Western Australia using rope made of bedsheets
A man who escaped hotel quarantine in Western Australia by crafting a rope out of bedsheets and scaling down the building has been found and arrested.
The man, 39, had travelled to WA from Brisbane and was forced to quarantine after it was revealed that he did not meet the criteria for an exemption into the state.
He was issued with a direction to leave WA within 48 hours and was taken to a Rivervale hotel until he could get a flight out.

Police allege that at 12.45am today, the man "climbed out of a window of the fourth-floor room using a rope made of bedsheets" and fled the area.
Officers located the man eight hours later on Beaufort Street, near Second Avenue in Mt Lawley, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

He was eventually caught some eight hours later. WA Police
He was charged with a number of offences and is due to appear in a Perth court today.
The man is not believed to have COVID-19.
