Freediver drowns at Brighton Le Sands beach

A man’s body has been found less than two hours after he went missing while diving off a beach in Sydney’s south.

Emergency services were called to Brighton Le Sands about 7pm yesterday after the man failed to resurface while free-diving with his partner.

The pair was diving in a netted area near Brighton Bar.

Rescue crews scoured the area as hundreds of people looked on.

The man’s body, who was believed to be in his 30s, was found at around 8.30pm.

Police said a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
