Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck on motorway

A man has died after being hit by a truck on the Pacific Motorway on the Gold Coast. 

The man was walking on the southbound lanes of the motorway at Reedy Creek when he was struck about 4.20am today. 

All southbound lanes have been closed between Reedy Creek and Mudgeeraba, bringing traffic to a standstill.

A number of emergency crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the morning.

Gold Coast motorists are being urged to avoid the M1 or take exit 82 and traffic diversions are in place.

Police are investigating the incident.
