Man killed after crashing ute into tree on NSW Mid North Coast

A man has died after crashing his ute into a tree on the state's Mid North Coast early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Italia Road near the Pacific Highway at Balickera, 13 kilometres north of Raymond Terrace, at about 5.30am after reports ute veered off the road and crashed into trees out the front of a residential property.

When authorities arrived, they found a 26-year-old man badly injured.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene but was unable to be revived.

Police have established a crime scene as investigations continue. Anyone with information relating to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

The death comes on the first day that the Queen's Birthday long weekend double demerit scheme comes into affect.

Double demerits will apply for all speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences until Midnight Monday June 14.

Police have warned that they will be targeting the "four Ds" of road users including drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.
