Father dies after truck falls from hoist on farm

A father has been killed while working on a truck north of Melbourne this morning.

The man – who is yet to be formally identified – was crushed inside a shed just after 11am on a farm property along Sugarloaf Creek Road, in Broadford.

The man is understood to have jacked up the vehicle and was beneath it when it collapsed on him.

A large number of police, SES and ambulance vehicles arrived at the scene but the man couldn’t be revived.

They stayed for hours as distraught family and friends waited at the top of a driveway to be allowed closer.

Initially, it was reported that the deceased was a visiting mechanic.

However, neighbours have told 9NEWS the man killed by the truck had been living at the property for a number of years.

It’s understood he was a welder, aged in his late 30’s with two teenage daughters.

All have described him as a “lovely” and “generous” man.

The scene has since been cleared by emergency services.

WorkSafe has been notified and is investigating.
