Man dead, another severely burned after ute crash and fire on south Western Australian farm

One man has died and another has burns to 80 percent of his body after a ute rolled over and caught fire in a paddock on a farm in south Western Australia.

Police were called to the scene about 10.40pm yesterday, near the intersection of the South Coast Highway and Telegraph Road in Monjingup.

The two men, aged 41 and 42, were the only occupants of the ute.

The younger man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the older man was taken to Esperance Hospital with severe burns.

He is in a critical condition and will be transferred to the Royal Perth Hospital.

Police have informed the men's families of the crash, and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
