Man critical and four others injured in multi-vehicle crash

A man is fighting for life after a multiple vehicle crash in Melbourne’s north.

Emergency services were called to Sydney Road at Western Ring Road, Fawkner, following reports of a crash about 4.30pm.

It’s understood that a semi-trailer crossed Sydney Road, smashing into a number of vehicles and trapping at least two people.

A man aged in his 30s has been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

Four others, including a primary school-aged girl, have also been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Sydney Road remains closed outbound, while entry to the Ring Road is also shut.

Police investigations are now underway.
