Man critical after violent attack in Adelaide
A man is in a critical condition with serious head injuries after a violent assault last night in Adelaide’s CBD.
Two women allegedly attacked a 34-year old man at midnight last night on the corner of West Terrace and Gouger Street.
Broken glass and blood can be seen on the footpath in footage recorded by 9News.
Witnesses report the women assaulted the man with a bottle and a rock.
He was knocked unconscious and had to be rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital after being treated at the scene.
The women, a 31-year old from West Croydon and a 34-year-old woman from Ceduna, have been arrested.
Witnesses reported the alleged assault and were able to keep watch over the two women until police arrived.
Police then detained them on a side street.
Nearby business owners and residents say crime has been escalating.
“It is a trend that seems to be increasing a little bit within the area,” Kym Green said.
“We’ve always had a very good security system but yes we’ve just upgraded it with more and more cameras.”
Both women have been refused police bail, and will stand in front of a judge at the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
