Man charged with murder over 1982 death of Elizabeth Dixon

A man has been charged over the cold case murder of Elizabeth Dixon in 1982 in the Central Hunter, NSW and will face court today.
Detectives from the Central Hunter Local Area Command were investigating the alleged stabbing of the then 31-year-old after her body was found inside a car in bushland at Ashtonfield on 6 April 1982.
Ms Dixon was allegedly stabbed 27 times, beaten with a blunt object and left inside her car on a dirt track.
Police received new information in August which led to the arrest of the man at his Stockton home yesterday.
He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was charged with murder.
The 64-year-old accused was refused bail and is due to appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
