Man charged over pistol in Sydney's west

A semi-automatic pistol and ammunition has been seized in a police raid on a western Sydney apartment, with a man charged for illegally possessing them.
Police executed a search warrant at the apartment in Parramatta shortly after midday on Wednesday, finding the .45 calibre pistol, ammunition, cash and freezer bags containing a white residue.
A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with possessing a pistol and ammunition, dealing with the proceeds of crime, breach of parole and driving while suspended.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.
Police say forensic tests will be carried out to identify the white residue found in the freezer bags.
