Man charged over allegedly making threats and 'acting suspiciously' outside Sydney Opera House

A teenager has been charged over allegedly making threats outside the Sydney Opera House.

The 18-year-old male was arrested yesterday about 11.20am after police were alerted to a person "acting suspiciously" in the landmark's forecourt.

His backpack was seized and is undergoing forensic examination.

He was interviewed and overnight charged with threatening to destroy or damage property.

He was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court today.

Officers from the NSW Police Terrorism Investigations Squad are investigating.
