Man charged over NT murder

A man has been charged with a woman's murder in remote central Australia.

Northern Territory Police issued a statement on Saturday night, saying the 24-year-old had been charged in relation to the death of a 23-year-old female in the Stuart Highway township of Wauchope, about 135 kilometres south of Tennant Creek.

It's understood the woman's body was found in bushland on Thursday morning.

Police say they are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and that the man is expected to appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Monday.
