Man charged over fatal Melbourne crash

A man has been charged over a crash that killed a woman in central Melbourne.

A Toyota Land Cruiser collided with a Toyota Yaris sedan on Footscray Road at the Docklands on Saturday morning.

A 34-year-old female passenger in the Yaris died at the scene.

Police charged the 29-year-old Land Cruiser driver with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing serious injury, negligent driving causing serious injury and possessing a drug of dependence.

The Hillside man was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Victoria's road toll sits at 26, compared to 15 at the same time last year.
