Man charged over drugs, weapons offences

A man has been charged with various offences after guns, drugs and cash were discovered at two houses in Sydney's southwest.

Police units searched the two properties in Morris Street and Gloucester Avenue in Merrylands on Wednesday morning.

They say a loaded .45 calibre revolver with a laser pointer attached and an amount of cash were discovered in the Morris Street property, as well as the barrel from a .22 calibre rifle, a rifle scope, ammunition, an amount of the drug Ice and a Subaru WRX.

A shortened 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition, along with a .45 calibre revolver and scope, as well as a large amount of cash were found at the other property, police say.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Merrylands on Wednesday evening and later charged with various drug and firearm offences.

He was refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Thursday.
