Man charged over child’s severe burns

A man will face court today after a young boy in Central West New South Wales was hospitalised with severe burns.

Police were called to Condobolin Hospital yesterday afternoon after the two-year-old  was admitted with second-degree burns to his face and back.

Officers were told the boy was in the care of his mother’s partner while she worked on Saturday evening.

When she returned home she noticed her son was unsettled and discovered his injuries.

The boy was later airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney where he underwent surgery.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man at Bathurst yesterday following innquries. He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and child neglect.

He was refused bail and is due to front Bathurst Local Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
