Man charged after woman allegedly held at gunpoint near Wollongong

A man has been charged after allegedly holding a woman against her will at a house near Wollongong.

The domestic-related incident took place on Sunday with police called to a house in Warrawong, NSW, about 10km south of Wollongong.

A 29-year-old man was arrested just before 11am yesterday and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with kidnap with intent to commit serious indictable offence occasioning actual bodily harm.

He has also been charged with breaching an apprehended violence order, possessing three prohibited weapons and drugs charges.

The 25-year-old woman escaped her situation and was the one to alert police after allegedly being held against here will and threatened with a firearm.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics after suffering minor injuries to her arms.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
