Driver charged over crash that left cyclist fighting for life

A man will face court after two cyclists were seriously injured on Sydney's Northern Beaches yesterday morning.

At about 6.10am yesterday, a car collided with two bicycles on Forest Way in Belrose.

One cyclist – 47-year-old Nick Sky – was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

He has undergone surgery for a brain injury.

The other cyclist – 56-year-old man Michael Collings – was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car – a 24-year-old man – was uninjured.

He underwent mandatory testing at a hospital.

He has since been charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in court on July 24.
