A Queensland man has been charged in Melbourne over a collision that left a cyclist fighting for her life.

It's alleged a Porsche struck a cyclist near the intersection of St Georges Road and Park Street in Fitzroy North at about 4.15pm.

The cyclist, a 39-year-old Brunswick woman, was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Three passengers in the Porsche were not injured.

The driver, a 39-year-old man, was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, disobey red light and unlicensed driving.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
